UEL Summer School là một trong những hoạt động thường niên của Trung tâm Pháp luật Hoa Kỳ (đơn vị nghiên cứu được thành lập bởi Trường Đại học Kinh tế – Luật, ĐHQG-HCM) kết hợp cùng Trường Đại học Indiana, Hoa Kỳ.

Vừa qua, UEL Summer School 2019 với trọng tâm là hai lĩnh vực Pháp luật về “Dispute Resolution and Negotiations” và “Contract Law” dưới góc nhìn Luật Hoa Kỳ đã diễn ra thành công trong 02 tuần từ ngày 5/8/2019 đến ngày 16/8/2019.
UEL Summer School 2019 được chia thành hai chuyên đề, giảng dạy bởi các Giáo sư đến từ Trường Luật Robert H. McKinney, Đại học Indiana.

⚜ Chuyên đề 1 về “Dispute Resolution and Negotiations” được giảng dạy bởi GS. Cynthia M. Adams.
⚜ Chuyên đề 2 về “Contract Law” được giảng dạy bởi Thẩm phán Tòa án tối cao bang Indiana Steven H. David.

Khóa học có sự tham gia của hơn 50 giảng viên, nghiên cứu sinh, sinh viên trong và ngoài nước: Keio University, Kobe University, Royal University of Law and Economics, Southwest University of Political Sciences and Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, University of Malaya, University of Yangon, Thammasat University, National Chung Cheng University, Khoa Luật Đại học Quốc gia Hà Nội, Đại học Luật Tp.HCM, Trường Đại học Ngoại ngữ – Tin học Tp.HCM, Trường Đại học Hutech, Trường Đại học Lạc Hồng, Trường Đại học Trà Vinh, Trường Đại học Bạc Liêu, Trường Đại học Kinh tế – Luật.

Trong lớp học, các học viên rất tích cực trao đổi và thảo luận về các hệ thống luật tại các quốc gia khác nhau, tạo nên không khí sôi nổi và xây dựng tích cực. Ngoài ra, các chuyên đề đặc biệt về Pháp luật Việt Nam cũng được giảng dạy bởi giảng viên UEL như chuyên đề về hardship (PGS.TS Nguyễn Ngọc Điện), hợp đồng lao động (TS. Đoàn Thị Phương Diệp) cũng góp phần giới thiệu hệ thống luật Việt Nam đến các học viên quốc tế.Song song các hoạt động học thuật, các học viên cũng được tham gia các buổi học tập thực tế tại các cơ quan, tham quan dã ngoại, giao lưu văn hóa Việt Nam.

🚗 Vào ngày 5/8/2019, các học viên đã tham quan và tìm hiểu lịch sử về hoạt động làm gốm sứ truyền thống tại Minh Long Showroom.
Tại đây, các học viên cũng đã tự tay vẽ lên những chiếc ly sứ và giữ lại như món quà lưu niệm từ chương trình.Ngày 7/8/2019, GS Cynthia M. Adams cùng các học viên đã được trải nghiệm tour tham quan những địa điểm nổi tiếng tại trung tâm thành phố Hồ Chí Minh như Dinh Độc Lập, Nhà thờ Đức Bà, Bưu điện thành phố, Chợ Bến Thành… Qua hoạt động này, chương trình UEL Summer School 2019 không chỉ mang đến cơ hội để trau dồi kiến thức chuyên môn mà còn góp phần quảng bá và giới thiệu đến bạn bè quốc tế hình ảnh thành phố Hồ Chí Minh năng động và hiếu khách.

Ngoài ra, các học viên cũng đã có cơ hội tham quan và học tập thực tế Tòa án nhân dân Quận Thủ Đức. Vào chiều ngày 13/8/2019, Phó chánh án Tòa án nhân dân Quận Thủ Đức
– Ông Nguyễn Vũ Trọng Đan đã giới thiệu về lịch sử hình thành, phát triển của Tòa án, đồng thời khái quát sơ lược về hệ thống tư pháp Việt Nam đến các bạn học viên quốc tế. Bên cạnh đó, ông cũng giải đáp những thắc mắc của các học viên về sự khác nhau trong hệ thống tư pháp giữa các quốc gia. Hai bên đã có một buổi trao đổi, thảo luận cởi mở và nhiệt tình về những vấn đề liên quan đến thực tiễn xét xử tại Tòa, đặc thù, tính chất công việc tại các vị trí trong Tòa, đồng thời tham quan các phòng ban và khu vực xét xử tại Tòa.
Vào ngày 16/8/2019, TS. Lê Tuấn Lộc – Phó Hiệu trưởng nhà trường đã trao chứng chỉ hoàn thành khoá học UEL Summer School 2019 cho các học viên và bế giảng khoá học. Khoá học đã diễn ra thành công tốt đẹp, không những cung cấp những kiến thức bổ ích về pháp luật Hoa Kỳ thông qua các bài giảng của GS. Cynthia M. Adams và Thẩm phán Steven H. David mà còn giới thiệu hệ thống pháp luật, môi trường hành nghề luật cũng như văn hoá Việt Nam đến với các Giáo sư, học viên trong và ngoài nước. Khoá học kết thúc đã để lại rất nhiều kỷ niệm đẹp cho học viên, nhất là các giảng viên, học viên quốc tế và các giảng viên từ các trường Đại học khác tại Việt Nam, hứa hẹn sự tiếp nối thành công cho các khoá học UEL Summer School trong tương lai.

UEL Summer School is one of the annual activities of the American Law Center (a research institute established by the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City) in partnership with Indiana University, US.
UEL Summer School 2019, while focusing on Contract Law and Dispute Resolution & Negotiations of the US, was successfully completed in 02 weeks from 5th to 16thAugust 2019.UEL Summer School 2019 is divided into 2 courses.

⚜ Course 01 on “Dispute Resolution & Negotiations” is taught by Prof. Cynthia M.
⚜ Adams. Course 02 on “Contract Law” is taught by Justice/Prof. Steven H. David.

The program is honored to host 50 participants who are lecturers and students from various universities in the legion: Keio University, Kobe University, Royal University of Law and Economics, Southwest University of Political Sciences and Law, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, University of Malaya, University of Yangon, Department of Law, Thammasat University, National Chung Cheng University, School of Law – Vietnam National University Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology (HUFLIT), Hutech University, Lac Hong University, Tra Vinh University, Bac Lieu University and University of Economics and Law (UEL).
All participants enthusiastically participated in class discussion on different legal systems. Moreover, the special lessons on Vietnamese laws taught by UEL lecturers on hardship (Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Dien), labor contract (Dr. Doan Thi Phuong Diep helped deliver Vietnamese laws to international participants.Furthermore, the participants also had a chance to visit and learned practical knowledge from Thu Duc District Court. On the afternoon of 13th August 2019, the tribunal vice-president – Mr. Nguyen Vu Trong Dan presented on the founding history, annual activities of Thu Duc District Court and the overview of Vietnamese judicial system. Besides, the participants heard sharing on the trial practices, specifics and work of some positions in the Court.

🚗 Concurrently with academic activities, the participants can also attend excursion and cultural events of Vietnam such as: experiencing Minh Long Pottery Tour, sightseeing some famous places in the city center, visiting Thu Duc District Court, appreciating The Water Puppet Show at Golden Dragon Theater.
On 5th August 2019, participants had experienced about the production process and products at Minh Long Showroom – the most reputed pottery and porcelain producer in Viet Nam. Participants also decorated their coffee mugs and took them as souvenirs. On 7th August 2019, Prof. Cynthia M. Adams and participants had a walking tour in the heart of HCMC. They had been introduced to iconic and historical places of the city.
The UEL Summer School 2019 not only provided the forum to meet and exchange their interest research topics but also contributed to introducing the dynamic and hospitable city.

On 16th August 2019, Dr. Le Tuan Loc – Vice-Rector of UEL awarded the Certificate of Completion to the participants and conducted the Closing Ceremony. UEL Summer School 2019 was very successful, not only had the program achieved the goal of being a useful academic program on American Law through the teachings of Prof. Cynthia M. Adams and Justice/ Prof. Steven H. David, but also introduced the legal systems, legal practice environment as well as culture of Vietnam to the Professors and participants. The program left beautiful memories for the participants, especially for lecturers and participants from different universities within and outside of Viet Nam, promising the continual success for future UEL Summer School.
